Candidate Opposes Ticket Quotas
Calgary, Alberta – Canada – Mayoral Candidate Alnoor Kassam opposes ticket quotas – and presumably traffic speeding offences quotas – in the city!
Police administrators often call traffic ticket quotas “selective enforcement” or “priority ticket enforcement”. However, the rank and file police officers know that writing traffic violation notices for speeding tickets, DUI laws and other offenses is only justified if, in their opinion, the circumstances surrounding the traffic stop justify the ticket infraction.
Congratulations to Mr. Kassam for taking a stand against arbitrary enforcement of traffic ticket quotas and traffic violations. Ticket quotas are predominant in the United States, and Mr. Kassam is doing his part to ensure that such traffic violation campaigns are not conducted in Calgary.
